Killington Water System
Construction is underway for a new municipal water system, and we’re excited that service to properties along East Mountain and Killington Roads could be available as early as the end of 2026.
Service Sheets on this website show the design location of the Town owned water service, which terminates at the edge of the road right of way with a curb stop or a gate valve. The customer portion of the water service begins at this point. Property owners are responsible for designing, constructing and maintaining their portion of the water service. There will be a blanket Wastewater System and Potable Water Supply permit from the VT Agency of Natural Resources that the Town will apply for to cover permitting for all users who commit to connecting to the water service.
The Town is currently drafting the Water System Ordinance which will detail requirements for connecting to the system. Once the Ordinance has been adopted by the Selectboard, the Town will work with the VT Agency of Natural Resources to develop the application for users to request connection to the water system. The application will include a requirement that connection of the service line is to be completed by a Certified Designer or Professional Engineer. The Town’s engineering firm has a list of water pressures at the point of connection and can provide this information for the designer’s use.
Existing water systems that are being eliminated with a connection to the new Town water system will have additional requirements that may include water quality testing, disconnection of existing sources, and modifications to comply with backflow prevention. These requirements will be determined by the design for each individual system.
