Town Departments

There are many ways that the Town of Killington works to serve the community.  The following are the major departments of the town, including a description of their main functions.  If you need information on or assistance with a particular town function or service, these sections of the website should be helpful to you.

Town Manager:  Responsible for overall town administration including personnel, tax collection (current and delinquent), highways and other public works, purchasing and accounting.  The Manager's office does the accounts payable and receivable, bookkeeping, tax and sewer billing and collections, sale of Transfer Station stickers and punch cards, and Green Mountain National Golf Course passes.  Staff includes the Town Manager and the Administrative Assistant & Bookkeeper.

Treasurer:  Responsible for the financial records of the Town including investments, deposits and disbursements of all Town funds.  Staff includes the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.

Town Clerk:  Responsible for the recording and maintenance of all documents pertaining to land records, birth, death, marriage and civil union records, issuing licenses for marriage, civil union, dogs, fish & wildlife, liquor and tobacco, voter registration, notary services and motor vehicle registration renewal.  Staff includes the Town Clerk and Assistant Town Clerk.

Planning & Zoning:  Responsible for all planning and zoning issues and assignment of E-911 addresses for new development.  Staff includes the Town Planner/Zoning Administrator.

Killington Police:  The Killington Police Department is a part time law enforcement organization, responsible for over 54 miles of roads, 3,171 tax accounts and up to 16,000 people on a busy weekend (winter/summer).  Staff includes the Chief of Police and Contract Officers.

Parks & Recreation:  Responsible for maintenance of the Johnson Recreation facility and recreation programming for the Town.  Staff includes the Recreation Director.

Board of Listers:  Responsible for the appraisal and assessment of all taxable real estate for the purpose of establishing the grand list.  Staff includes 3 Listers.

Highway & Facilities Department:  Responsible for maintenance of, and improvements to, the Town's roads, sidewalks, bridges and culverts; and maintenance of all Town facilities and grounds.  

Solid Waste Transfer Station:  This facility provides both trash and recycling services to residents and property owners in the Town of Killington.

Sherburne Memorial Library:  Responsible for loaning materials such as books, periodicals, books on tape, cassettes, videos, puzzles, and children's books and tapes.  Staff includes the Library Director and Assistant Director.

Green Mountain National Golf Course:  Municipal owned, public 18 hole, par 71 golf course with a full service restaurant and complete pro shop.  Staff includes the Golf Director, Superintendent and Food & Beverage Manager.
