2026 Town-Wide Reappraisal
2026 Town-Wide Reappraisal
The Grand List has been officially lodged with the Killington Town Clerk as of Thursday 7th May 2026.
The VISION Online Database should reflect those values.
Grievance Hearings will be held from 21 May to 5 June at the Community Development Conference Room at the New Town Office.

The assigning of property values is an imprecise science. The appraising of property is designed to provide a fair, equitable process whereby decisions are made based on evidence rather than on personal feelings or political concerns in town. Taxpayers may work with the Listers through the grievance process to assure that the Grand List is accurate.
THE TAX GRIEVANCE/APPEAL PROCESS
Taxpayers considering an appeal of the town's assessment of their property should be aware that even while their property is under appeal, taxes remain due and fees and interest for late payments will be assessed.
PHASE 1. VISION Appointments
The Town of Killington retained VISION Government Solutions to lead our reappraisal, as we use their CAMA software program for our value processing. This process began in the 2024 and has continued. VISION posted their initial values on March 1st and taxpayers were given the opportunity to meet with VISION via phone or in-person appointments at the Killington Town Office. Those meetings have officially ended and updated values as of Friday 24 April 2026 have now been posted on the VISION online database.
PHASE 2. Pre-Grievance (April 27th through May 19th)
Once values have been publicized but before the Grand List is officially lodged with the State of Vermont, property owners may begin to meet with the Listers to appeal their property values. Taxpayers who wish to contest their property must first file a pre-grievance with the Listers. Pre-Grievances Hearings may be in person, by phone or in writing only and must be supported by evidence, examples of which are included on the Pre-Grievance Application Form.
Once you have scheduled your pre-grievance appointment, please download the pre-grievance form below, fill out and submit to the listers BEFORE your scheduled appointment. All Pre-Grievances must be submitted in writing. Applications can be emailed to listers@killingtontown.com or dropped off in person to the Listers in the Community Development Offices at the Town Hall.
Pre-Grievance Application Form
Once you have submitted your pre-grievance application and supporting evidence and/or had your pre-grievance hearing, the Listers will review the data provided amongst themselves and respond to you with an updated lister card via email in a timely fashion.
PHASE 3. Grievance (May 21st to June 5th)
Official Grievance will begin fourteen days after the Grand List is lodged with the State of Vermont. All Grievances must be filed in writing within the prescribed time frame set forth by Vermont State Statutes. The listers will publish the link to schedule your appointment here when available.

Schedule Your 2026 Grievance Hearing
The listers' grievance hearings are open public meetings, the purpose of which is to discover any possible errors or omissions in determining the value of a property. Evidence may be oral testimony or by presenting documents. However, the burden of proof and persuasion remains with the taxpayer. The listers will notify each taxpayer in writing of their decision by mail postmarked by June 12th. Please see the Grievance Application for more information.
PHASE 4. Board of Civil Authority (BCA) Tax Appeal
If the taxpayer does not agree with the Listers' grievance decision he/she may appeal to the Board of Civil Authority. You must have a Grievance Hearing order to appeal to the BCA.
All appeals to the Board of Civil Authority must be filed in writing to the Town Clerk within 14 days from the date the Listers mailed the results of the taxpayers' grievance hearing.
PHASE 5. Appealing Beyond the BCA
